WHAT IS LAMINATE FLOOR

Laminate flooring is composed of several layers of impregnated paper, forming the surface layer, a core layer to which the surface layer is attached and a bottom layer to stabilize the floor. The top layer of the surface layer is transparent and is specially treated by in-house developed technology to achieve high wear resistance. A decorative layer that gives the floor its decor is under the top layer. Wood is today the predominating decor. The core is made of a high performing HDF panel (high-density fiberboard). The bottom layer can be a stiff laminated material.

LAMINATE VS. HARDWOOD FLOORING

How can you tell the difference between laminate flooring and 'real' hardwood floors? And which one is better?

The easiest way to tell the difference is to look for variations in the wood pattern. If it's a laminate floor, you'll see the same knots, grain and other features repeated throughout your floor.

The other major difference is that hardwood floors dent more easily and don't stand up to heavy traffic as well as laminate flooring. That's why people end up re-sanding and re-finishing their floors periodically.

For people who like the 'feel' of real wood, and don't mind paying a premium for it, then hardwood is the way to go. Your floor with 'weather' with age - but that is often considered one of the nicest features of hardwood floors.

Hardwood floors generally cost 20 to 25% more than a comparable laminate floor. But you might earn that money back in the long run, since hardwood floors often increase the resale value of your home.

However, if you're looking for a floor that's easy to install and easy to care for, and will withstand the heavy traffic of normal family life, laminate flooring is an option that's very hard to beat!

LAMINATE FLOORING BENEFITS

The benefits of laminate flooring can be summed up in two words - cost and durability.
Laminate flooring offers the appearance of real hardwood floors or stone tile, but for about two-thirds the cost.
However, people often forget that laminate flooring has a number of other benefits, such as:

--> High UV resistance, blocking the sun's harmful rays and protecting the floor pattern from fading over time.
--> Easy installation, especially when choosing pre-glued or glueless brands.
--> Excellent warranty protection.
--> Easy repairs, since damaged planks can be replaced without contrasting with the pattern of surrounding boards.
--> Easy cleaning, since laminate flooring doesn't trap dirt. Most spills can be cleaned up with a mop or sponge.
--> Very low emissions.
--> Endless design options.
--> Thickness

All of my Kronoswiss laminates are 8 mm thick. They also have a special rubberized material applied to the back that reduces the noise associated with laminate flooring by 50%. It makes the laminate sound like hardwood instead.

Surface Texture=Realism
Are you tired of looking at laminate flooring that has no texture and looks more like a piece of flat plastic or Kmart furniture?

The surface texture of all our Kronoswiss floors appear as real wood. You can see and feel the nice rolling texture. This product cleans with just a damp cloth and nothing will stick in the textured areas as it will with vinyl.

Wear Layer…An Incredible AC4!!!!
All Kronoswiss laminate we sell carries an AC4 wear layer rating, meaning you can use this in a heavy commercial setting, if you wish. Just imagine how long it will last in your home! It is 60% more durable than many other brands.

3) Heavier textures that look and feel like real wood
